Gathering

  • 1 cup fresh moringa leaves, washed and chopped
  • 1/4 cup roasted coconut, roughly chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 1 green chili, seeded and chopped
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder

The Alchemy

01

Heat coconut oil in a pan and add cumin seeds until they sputter.

02

Add garlic, ginger, and green chili; sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

03

Stir in moringa leaves and roasted coconut, cooking until the leaves wilt, about 3 minutes.

04

Transfer the mixture to a blender, add lemon juice, salt, roasted cumin powder and coriander; blend until smooth, adding a splash of water if needed to reach desired consistency.

05

Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or lemon juice as preferred.

06

Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl, drizzle a little extra coconut oil on top for shine.

07

Serve with samosas, pakoras, or as a spread on whole‑grain toast.

08

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
